MODULE 1 - Lesson 2 Continued...2
The Basics
Tuning the Guitar - The Tuning Fork
2c - How to use a Tuning Fork
Tuning Method Four
Use a tuning fork as (shown in the video later on), or other device such as a keyboard or pitch pipe etc.. to get one note

The idea is the tuning fork gives a note that you match one of the strings to, then you tune the other strings from that string
Study the video shown later on as this is shown in it

The diagrams here show how to match the other strings once you have got one string tuned
In the video the tuning forked used gives the Note of A so the first string tuned is the 2nd Bass string the A String

NOTE
It can be very confusing at first using a tuning fork, as the actual note of A you hear is a  different pitch than what the A Bass string should sound like. It is several Octaves higher in pitch than the Bass string
How to use a tuning fork

1st

Use the tuning fork to get the A Note (The 2nd bass string)
When using a tuning fork only hold the stem as shown in the picture above and hit only one of the bars on a soft surface such as your knee as the metal is quite soft

Once you have got the A String sounding correct hold down that string on the 5th fret and play it

The Tuning Fork plays the note of A

VIDEO 2a
2nd
Once you have got the A String sounding correct hold down that string on the 5th fret and play it
The note you hear is a D Note, so now match the D String to that note you now hear

3rd
Once you have got the D String sounding correct hold down that string on the 5th fret and play it.
The note you hear is a G Note, so now match the G String to that note

4th
Once you have got the G String sounding correct hold down that string on the 4th fret and play it.
The note you hear is a B Note, so now match the B String to that note

5th
Once you have got the B String sounding correct hold down that string on the 5th fret and play it
The note you hear is a E Note, so now match the E String to that note

6th
Now to tune the E Bass string.
PLAY the A string open (don't hold it down) but hold the 5th fret of the E Bass string and play it, the note you should hear is a A Note but if the E string is not already in tune you need to now tune the E Bass String till the 2 notes match each other

The note on 5th fret should match the A string
then when you release the 5th fret on the E string the 6th string should be in tune (the note of E)
