Basic Practical Theory 5

5a.  Now you know how to find the notes of any Major Scale

using   The Formula   -    T    2    2    1    2    2    2    1

To find the notes of any Major Scale for example in a music exam just

Write out the 12 notes of the Musical Alphabet on a piece of paper and use the Formula    T    2    2    1    2    2    2    1

The Example below is for the A Major Scale

You need to remember that B and C, E and F have no black notes between them

Study the diagram below

  A.  A#/Bb.  B.  C.  C#/Db.  D.  D#/Eb.  E.  F.  F#/Gb.  G.  G#/Ab.  A.

The A Major Scale

Now we have easily found the notes of the A Major Scale

They are

  A.   B.   C#.  D.   E.  F#.    G#.  A.

Note: Basically so as to not replicate the music note letters we use

C# instead of Db - F# intead of Gb -G# instead of Ab

So the notes of the A Major Scale look like this

A.   B.   C#.  D.   E.  F#.   G#.  A.            And not like this shown below

A.   B.   Db.  D.   E.  Gb.   Ab.  A.

See the logic?
