D-A-D-G-A-D Tuning is one of the most common altered tunings for guitar used today.  Great sounds can be made with this tuning, great for finger picking ideal for Celtic type sounds and much more…

Normally the chords used are related to the Key of D as the tuning is a D Suspended 4th Tuning I.e D major - G major - A major (I-IV-V) type chords etc… but for the more adventuress it is nice to be able to play any chord you wanted.  Hopefully this little book will enable you to do just that

Remember that due to the tuning some fingerings for some chords can be tricky and are bar type chords, and also some chords not practical to try to finger so you will find some chords have No Tonic, to enable a type of substitute.  You can also find chords for yourself by using the Guitar Scale Fretboard shown,  if you are unfamiliar with basic chord theory then look at these modules

2-Easy Practical Theory for Guitar, Keyboard and other Instruments

Some of these chord shapes are going to require an experienced hand to play them but you have a variety of shapes to choose from, some chord shapes work well for finger picking and some for strumming and or picking, experiment with the different sounds you can get

For beginners it is recommended that you start with the chords ideal for
